Daily Itinerary for the Argentina from North to South Holiday
Dag 1 - Arrival in Buenos Aires
You’ll arrive at Buenos Aires airport, where our colleagues will welcome you and take you to your hotel.
Dag 2 - BA City Tour
After breakfast, you will go on a city tour through Buenos Aires during which you’ll visit the many highlights that the city has to offer, including Recoleta, Palermo, ‘Teatro Colon’, Plaza de Mayo and the Cathedral. We’ll also visit the ‘San Telmo’ tango district and the ‘La Boca’ working-class district. To end with, we will visit the ‘Puerto Madero’ modern district.
Day 3 - Day in Buenos Aires
Today, it will be up to you to decide what to do in BA. You could sample the local cuisine, go shopping, explore the culture and – especially – relax. Optional tour: In the evening, you’ll be collected for a tango show that will include dinner.
Day 4 - Flight to Salta
You will go to the airport for your flight to Salta, where you’ll be collected and taken to your hotel. Your stay will be on a full-board basis.
Day 5 - Surroundings Salta, saltflats
Today’s a great day to explore the gorgeous surroundings of Salta and Jujuy.Optional tour: An early start today for a long, but great day. Pack some warm clothes and effective sun protection. The route to San Antonio des los Cobres is called ‘The Road to the Clouds’ because of the difference in elevation. The route continues onwards to Puna and Jujuy salt flats. Then, it descends to the picturesque Purmamarca at the foot of the well-known and colourful ‘Cerro de los Siete Colores’. At the end of this long, but thoroughly enjoyable day, you will return to Salta and spend the night in bed and breakfast accommodation.
Day 6 - To Cafayate
After breakfast, you will depart to Cafayate, making occasional stops to allow you to take photos of the distinct canyon landscape that we’ll travel through. In the afternoon, we will visit the Quilmes ruins and you’ll go on a guided tour through one of the Cafayate wine bodegas. At the end of the day, you will be taken to your superb accommodation in Cafayate. Enjoy it!
Day 7 - Day in Cafayate
Today, you will be able to explore Cafayate at your leisure. Have a look at the hotel bodega or use a bicycle to discover Cafayate, where you can also go on guided tours through bodegas.
Day 8 - To Tucuman to catch the overnight coach to Mendoza
After having indulged yourself in Cafayate, we’ll collect you and take you to Tucuman. On the way, we’ll stop in Tafi del Valle and Termas de Rio Hondo, where many Argentinians enjoy the thermal baths in the wintertime. In the evening, you will board the comfortable overnight coach to Mendoza. You’ll enjoy a great night’s sleep on this coach.
Day 9 - Arrival in Mendoza
In the morning, you will arrive in Mendoza, a city surrounded by wineries and fruit plantations , where you’ll be collected from the coach station. In the afternoon, you’ll have time to explore the city at your leisure.
Day 10 - A day in Mendoza
An optional city tour will take you to the historic part of the city where you can visit the great main squares (Independencia, España, Italia, Chile and San Martin), as well as stroll through the traditional streets of Mendoza. The climb to the Cerro de la Gloria – where the Frank Romero Day amphitheatre is located- is also one of the city's highlights.
Day 11 - Surroundings of Mendoza
An optional “Alta Montaña” tour will show you the beautiful surroundings of Mendoza and the beauty of the Andes. Very important places, from the historic point of view and the landscape, make this tour into unforgettable experience.
During the tour you can appreciate the Potrerillos Reservoir, Cacheuta Valley, Uspallata Valley. In Puente del Inca (‘The Inca’s Bridge’) at 2,720 meters (8,924 feet) above sea level, the Cuevas River has bored through the mountain forming a natural bridge where on its bank, hot springs appear on the surface. Near the area, we find the ‘Cementerio de los Andinistas’ (Cemetery of the Mountaineer). Very close from the border, a magnificent natural viewpoint let us appreciate the splendour of Mount Aconcagua. Already in the border with Chile, you can see Las Cuevas village, built in a European style, at 3,200 meters (10,498 feet) above sea level. The tour ends going back to Mendoza.
Day 12- To the Valdés PenÃnsula
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Mendoza airport for your flight to Trelew (via BA). Upon your arrival, we’ll take you to your hotel in Puerto Madryn.
Day 13 - Day on the Valdés PenÃnsula
You will explore this extraordinary peninsula today, visiting Puerto Piramides, Punta Delgada, Caleta Valdés, Punta Cantor and Isla de Pajaros (bird island). Punta Delgada is also the departure point for boats going on whale-watching tours (between June and mid-December). Here, the whales often put on a great show by breaching from the water. You’ll also see large colonies of elephant seals and sea lions. At the end of the day, you will return to Puerto Madryn.
Day 14 - Optional visit Penguin Colony on the Valdés PenÃnsula
Optional tour: Today, you could go on a tour of Punta Tombo and the Chubut River Valley. At Punta Tombo, you’ll see the largest penguin colony outside of Antarctica, where more than a million penguins breed every year. These penguins will go about their business unperturbed as your guide walks you right through the colony. Then, you’ll visit Trelew and the small town of Gaiman, where you’ll go on a short town tour. At the museum, the largest Patagonian fossil collection can be seen, along with information about fossil evolution. You will stay in Puerto Madryn again.
Day 15 - To Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego
Today, you will fly to the world’s southernmost city, Ushuaia. As usual, we’ll collect you from the airport and take you to your hotel. You can spend the rest of the day exploring this town.
Day 16 - Day in Tierra del Fuego National Park
Today, you will visit the Tierra del Fuego National Park, starting with a trek along the famous Beagle Canal, one of the most beautiful parts of the park. You’ll enjoy lunch accompanied by fabulous views over Laguna Verde, after which you will travel to Bahia Lapataia on board a canoe. The calm water and stunning natural surroundings are bound to provide great enjoyment. At the end of the day, you’ll be taken back to Ushuaia where you will stay in bed and breakfast accommodation.
Day 17 - One more day in Tierra del Fuego
Optional tour: Today, you could travel by 4x4 to one of the loveliest parts of Tierra de Fuego. After a few miles, the road becomes a gravel track and continues onwards through the mountains, with their snowy peaks and lush forests, to the hidden lake called ‘Lago Escondido’, which is actually clearly visible from the road. The landscape changes as the road descends. A further 40 km onwards, you’ll reach Lago Fagnano. Here, you’ll notice an entirely different forest environment with many lenga trees with trunks, branches and leaves all bent in the same direction. Lago Fagnano is also a bird haven where you will see albatrosses and caracaras. You’ll spend the night in Ushuaia again.
Day 18 - Buenos Aires
Today, we will collect you and transfer you to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires, where you’ll spend the final two nights of this holiday in Recoleta, a different district to the one you visited when you arrived. Recoleta is known for its cultural diversity, characteristic town squares, lush parks and French architecture. In the centre of the district is a unique graveyard (an historic national monument) that also houses the tomb of Evita Peron. In Recoleta, you’ll also find many designer shops, great restaurants, outdoor festivals and a market on weekends.
Day 19 - Buenos Aires
It would be hard to take in all that Buenos Aires has to offer, and today you have the time to explore the city at your leisure. In BA, relaxing and sightseeing go hand-in-hand. There is plenty to see, experience and enjoy. Have one more Bife de Chorizo or Lomo before you go to bed on your last night of this holiday through Argentina.
Day 20 - End of holiday
Today, you will be collected and transferred to BA airport for your flight home.
