Daily Itinerary for the Patagonia Experience Holiday
Day 1 - Arrival in Buenos Aires
We will welcome you to Buenos Aires and take you to your hotel.
Day 2 - BA in a day
This organised city tour is ideal for taking in the highlights of this crazy city. You’ll visit sights including Casa Rosada, the Florida and Lavalle shopping streets, Plaza de Mayo and Cabildo. If you prefer, you could go on the cycling city tour. This is a great way in which to see BA.
Day 3 - Buenos Aires
Today, you can further explore the Paris of Latin America at your leisure.
Optional tour: In the evening, you’ll be collected for a tango show that will include dinner.
This is a sensational show led by a band of maestros, and singers and professional dances will demonstrate the history of the tango while you enjoy dinner.
Day 4 - To the Valdés Peninsula
Today, you will fly to Trelew, where you’ll be collected and taken to your hotel in Puerto Madryn.
Day 5 - A day on the Valdés Peninsula
Today, you will explore this exceptional peninsula. You’ll visit Puerto Piramides, Punta Degada, Caleta Valdés, Punta Cantor and Isla de Pajaros (bird island). Punta Delgada is also the place from where boats embark on whale-watching tours (between June and mid-December). The whales often breach from the water, putting on an incredible show. You will also see large colonies of elephant seals and sea lions. At the end of the day, you’ll return to Puerto Madryn.
Day 6 - Valdés Peninsula, Optional visit penguin colony
Optional tour: Today, you could go on a tour of Punta Tombo and the Chubut River Valley. At Punta Tombo, you’ll see the largest penguin colony outside of Antarctica, where more than a million penguins breed every year. These penguins will go about their business unperturbed as your guide walks you right through the colony. Then, you will visit Trelew and the small town of Gaiman, where you’ll go on a short town tour. At the museum, the largest Patagonian fossil collection can be seen, along with information about fossil evolution. You’ll stay in Puerto Madryn again.
Day 7 - To Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego
Today, you will fly to the world’s southernmost city, Ushuaia. Of course, we’ll be at the airport to collect you and take you to your hotel, so that you can spend the rest of the day exploring this town.
Day 8 - Tour starting in Ushuaia
Today, you will visit the Tierra del Fuego National Park, starting with a trek along the famous Beagle Canal, one of the most beautiful parts of the park. You’ll enjoy lunch accompanied by fabulous views over Laguna Verde, after which you will travel to Bahia Lapataia on board a canoe. The calm water and stunning natural surroundings are bound to provide great enjoyment. At the end of the day, you will be taken back to Ushuaia where you’ll spend the night.
Day 9 - Ushuaia
Optional tour: Today, you will cruise along the well-known Beagle canal on a boat. You’ll depart from Ushuaia and have the opportunity to take in the passing panoramas. You’ll see sea birds, such as albatrosses, petrels, and cormorants, resting on islands and cliffs. You will also see sea lions at close range.
Day 10 - To the Glaciers
Today, you will fly to El Calefate, the departure point for glacier tours. Upon your arrival at the airport, you’ll be taken to your accommodation.
Day 11 - Perito Moreno Glacier
After breakfast, you will visit the well-known Perito Moreno glacier and enjoy a 45-minute boat cruise along the southern part of the glacier during which you’ll approach to within 250 m of the enormous ice mass. Take a packed lunch, since there are no restaurants in the National Park.
Day 12 - A day in and around El Calafate
Optional tour: You will go on a great excursion to ‘Estancia Cristina’. In the morning, you’ll be collected and taken to Puerto Banderas to board a boat. You’ll cruise amongst the glaciers and enjoy a phenomenal view of the famous Upsala glacier. Then, you will cruise through the Cristina canal and arrive at ‘Estancia Cristina’. Here, you can spend about 6 hours at the estancia, visit the Museo Costumbrista and take a guided walk to the Caterina river where you’ll also find the estancia chapel. On this day, you will learn all about the practices and customs of life on an Argentine estancia! At the end of the day, you’ll cruise back to Puerto Banderas and we will take you back to your hotel.
As an optional extra, you could choose to do this tour in its ‘Adventure’ format. Then, you’ll be transported into the surroundings in a 4x4. You could also choose the ‘trekking’ version during which a guide will take you on a hiking tour lasting a few hours.
Day 13 - Flight to Bariloche
You will fly to Bariloche from El Calafate airport, where you’ll again be collected and taken to your hotel. This lake area on the outskirts of the Andes Mountains is also known as the ‘Switzerland’ of Argentina and features lakes, waterfalls, cliffs and snowy peaks. An absolute paradise for hikers, mountaineers and trekkers.
Day 14 - 7 Lakes Route
Today, you will visit San Martin de los Andes via the 7 Lakes Route. This picturesque town is located on the banks of the Lacar Lake in the Lanin National Park. You’ll follow the ‘7 Lakes Route’, passing places like Villa la Angostura, a haven of peace and quiet surrounded by rivers, waterfalls, mountains and magical forests. San Martin de los Andes is still a genuine mountain village with charming stone- and wood structures. It’s a place where you can thoroughly enjoy the fresh mountain air. After the excursion, you will be returned to your hotel.
Day 15 - Day in Bariloche
Today, you can explore Bariloche at your leisure.
Day 16 - To Buenos Aires
We will collect you and take you to Bariloche airport for your flight to Buenos Aires. Here, you can again enjoy an afternoon and evening of dining, shopping or relaxing. Or you could visit another lovely district of this beautiful city. It’s great that all of these can often be done in combination.
Day 17 - End of holiday
Today, you will be taken to the airport for your flight home or to your next destination.
